We were scheduled for a csection on the 12th. They had been estimating her to be big since 33 weeks, when she was estimated to be 7 pounds 2 ounces already. I had been doing NST's 2 times a week and had contractions showing up on them occassionaly since approx 33 weeks. On Tuesday, apparently the midwife and nurse already had decided I wasn't going to last the week! LOL! On Friday, I had a small gush of fluid and wasn't quite sure if it was my water or not, I never had the pop like I did with Emma. Turns out it wasn't my water, just cervical discharge. They did the internal check and then my NST, I was just discouraged at this point. The prior week, I was measuring 44 weeks, at this appointment, I was 42 weeks. So, I knew that she had at least dropped into position!
When I came home, I looked up cervical discharge on the 'net and found that it's the thinning and dialating of the cervix. So that at least gave me some hope. On Saturday morning, I got up at 4 am in pain. Contractions lasted for 2 hours and were 5-10 minutes apart. However, since they weren't consistant and they stopped.. didn't worry anything about it. We went about our day. Went to a family picnic, and still had pains throughout the day, just nothing to time. We got home around 8:30pm, Emma was spending the night at my inlaws (pre-arranged!), and I ordered pizza. I was hungry yet again. Pizza came... 2 pieces later.. 9:30pm, pretty consistant contractions. I called my dh at work at 10:30 and told him to get his booty home, I wasn't going through this myself as I did with Emma. He came home around 11pm and was ready to head to the hospital right then and there. I had to call on call and refused to call till midnight. At midnight, I called and was told to wait on the doctor to call back. The doctor never did call back. By the third call of the answering service to check on the docs call, I told them to forget paging, I was heading to the L&D as I was 2.5-3 minutes apart now! 1:15am we are pulling in the hospital. Dh had to park the car after dropping me off, as the hospital parking is CRAP right now! We get in, get undressed.. and checked.. umm.. "you are 5 cms dialated! you are having a baby TODAY!" EEK! We get hooked up to the NST and call our parents. My mom was all confused and wanted to know where she should go. LOL! Told her to stay at home, as there was nothing she could do about anything, I was heading to surgery, told mil the same thing. While in the OR, the anestheialogist was CRAP! He was yelling at me telling me I wasn't in pain, that I wasn't giving him enough back.. etc. Finally, after I'm not sure how many pokes, I told him to forget it, give me general and get this baby out! I had already told him I had back problems, and was feeling every little poke/dig he was doing. So under I went. Surgery and all went fine, they completed the tubal as well while I was under.
Sadie had some initial problems that were gone by Monday though. She had a detectable heart murmur that was only heard 2 times on Sunday. Her blood sugar levels were also low at birth, but stabalized quickly.
My recovery took a bit longer than I expected. I had trouble with my bowels going to sleep while under the anesthesia. I was extremely bloated from the excess gas and couldn't get rid of it! I was put back on an iv on Tuesday night and had started to refuse all meds. I wasn't in pain from my surgery, I was in pain from the gas pressure. I was quite sick most of the time in the hospital. I finally started to feel better on Wednesday. I could actually still taste the anesthesia till that point. All the walking in the world didn't help me, unless you count it making me sick! LOL!
In ending.. LOL! we got released on Thursday and were FINALLY home at 5pm! LONG day! Jason was a SUPER dh and daddy while I was in. He and Emma would come spend the day with me, and take their naps on the futon in the room. We would say we had family nap time and family walk time while in the hospital! LOL! Emma is doing a great job at being a big sister and undertaking that new role. She loves to kiss and snuggle with her sister. She helps out so much and had grown MOUNDS while I was in the hospital. I can't believe the difference in her! |

I'm tired of being pregnant. I never thought I would say it.. but I am. As of last Thursday, I was measuring 44 weeks in fundal height. You are only pregnant for 40 weeks. WTH?! I'm hot. The weather bites. My belly button has actually almost popped.. depending on how I sit.. it DID pop. Now.. understand the significance on that, I'm a HEFTY gal. That doesn't normally happen. It never popped with Emma. So, Sadie is officially BAKED.
Friday, was Brennan's one year birthday. I miss my son. I want him here with us. |

Emma is so smart! I got her some wooden puzzles on Saturday. She can already do 3 of them. Two of them she is a pro at! (shapes and animals) She can do the number one, but doesn't turn them enough to fit them in the holes.
We have added shoe and pap to our vocab. She repeats everything and will be talking in no time. I fear that she will never be quiet after that.. she chooses to babble and babble all the time right now! |
